What sets this young lady apart is that she has, other than a naturally perfect technique, but that she plays with what only can be described as a soulful connection with the instrument. You can see this is players from Eddy Van Halen, to way back with Buddy Rich to bass players like Tony Levin. Now don't get me wrong. She may not be the fastest shredder on the fret board yet, but music shouldn't be about how fast you can play notes like so many young people are driven to do, but how well can you play music that can sonically connect with the heart and soul of others. Every time I see one of Ellen’s videos I get thoroughly impressed by her connection to the instrument & music. You can see the joy in her heart on her face and she has that trademark giggle. So much respect for her father in teaching her not only how to play an instrument, but also developing a love of the different genres of music and artists. Of course, her mother cannot be left out either for she provides Ellen style that is age appropriate and hairstyles that frame her lovely, cheerful face. That takes hours of preparation.
