I'm not going to lie---this brought a tear(s) to my eye as Ellen nailed that solo when Steve introduced her. It was also very awesome to see how generous all the other musicians were toward her on stage and how receptive the audience was. Long may you run Ellen

I get this mental picture, many years from now, Steve is in the old rockers home and sees Ellen on tv (or holo or whatever we're watching then) and says, "I jammed with her when she was just a little girl." And all the other old rockers say "Jeeze Steve, you say that every time she's on ."

Let's not forget how Ellen got there - the love, support, and training she gets from her amazing dad and mom!

Ellen, you made this 62 year old bassman cry. Keep doing what you are doing - classic rock and funk are in good hands (and you owned the stage).

When your idol cares about the next generation musicians, thats awesome, heart-warming, and thats what makes him immortal

I'm getting old. She looked so small on that stage and for a split second I worried she wasn't ready. Outstanding performance and she has now felt the thrill of the lights and atmosphere and the adoration of many. She has arrived.

Steve is THE most down-to-earth musician ever! He invites people to jam with him and looks at them like "there is always something to learn from anyone". 🤣

Thanks you Steve for shining a spotlight on young talent!

Vai thrived under the generosity of mentors like Zappa when he was young, and so Vai understood that with that opportunity comes the responsibility to pay it forward.

Ellen looked perfectly fine on that stage as if she were playing with the band the whole time. Mom and Dad must be proud.

Mom and Dad should be proud, not just of their amazing, talented little girl, but they should be proud of the memories they are helping her create for herself! Way to go, Mom, Dad & Ellen!

Steve is such a good soul. Never " look at me! I'm a bad ass!"
He's about the music! And he loves it, and he passes that love, how ever he can, to the younger generation. We need more people like him!

Best part of the video is at 15:58. Eyes glued to the bandleader, following every cue and absolutely nailing it. Sign of a true professional, despite still being in grade school. Astonishing.

Who doesn’t love this little girl? If you love music, you will definitely love her. Can’t wait to see her years from now.

I’m 64, and what makes me cry is seeing the pride & love from her parents, especially her Dad. They’ve given more than some basic lessons in music to Ellen; they’ve supported her on stage and her youthful exuberance & self-esteem making her the tiny champion that she is today. Rock on the bass, Miss Ellen!

She shows ALL OF US how to carry ourselves. She's only a kid, but, she's wise beyond her years. How many people can say they've played with STEVE VAI??!!

Frank's 'little Italian virtuoso' just makes ya love him even more. I'm so happy for Ellen that she got to play with one of the greats.
