Top Challah Tips ( These REALLY work! )

This Challah video will show you some of my top challah tips to make the best challah bread, but also tips to make life easier while making it!

Dough
1 kg of flour ( I generally use white flour or half half)
2 cups room temperature water
2 tablespoons dry yeast = 50 gram fresh yeast
1 tablespoon salt
1/2 cup sugar
drizzle honey (optional)
2 eggs
1/2 cup oil

Thank you so much for this video! Although I didn’t have the syrup you used, I added a little molasses to my egg wash last Friday and that gave my challot a nice sheen too.
The other invaluable tip was not to braid too tightly. I always take pride in a crisply braided pre-baked challah but then it would crack in the oven. I learned to minimize this by letting it proof properly during the second rise (while braided) and that’s an important step, but now I know to be mindful to braid much more loosely. I watch videos on challah and I have yet to try it!! It looks so good!!! I love kneading dough. It’s so fun and therapeutic! 😂So I’m glad to see you should knead it for 10 min! The color of your bread looks like pretzel bread! Looks so good!! I think the dark color is pretty. 💐 ❤

I’ve been practicing homemade pizza and some recipes recommended letting it rise in the fridge. It enhances the taste. I haven’t tried it. But I bet a slow rise for the challah can enhance the flavor.

I needed some tips for this! I’ve tried to make challah 3 times now and it hasn’t turned out well. I’ve never tried to let it rise overnight so I might try that. Also I think kneading it more will also help. The one time it came out looking good it was very dense and burned on the bottom. Thanks for this video! I’ll try again till I get it right 🙂
