The sound lasted nearly 3 minutes. The audio you played was 16x the original speed.

The problem with giant sea monsters is that there has to be more than one, otherwise it pretty much already extinct. "We saw this one shadow once, which might have been this one creature". If it's an animal that makes loud noises, we've be hearing it all the time because there'd be a whole population down there, just singing.

The bloop SC is 77 to 215 meters.
The Julia SC is 800 meters.

Current (Dec 2023) Scientific Concensus on these topics: The bloop was a giant piece of the ice shelf cracking. In the past few decades they've placed more sensors closer to the source area and recorded similar but smaller scale noises from similarly smaller scaled ice quaking event. Julia, while nothing similar has occurred since, is believed to be an iceberg in the area running ashore. The sound specifically being produced by the ice on bottom sliding onto solid ground. This makes more sense when you realize the Julia sound lasted 3 minutes, not the 16x sped up version.

It's a giant ice creature. It was eating, hence the scientist thought the sounds were icebergs.

In case anyone is wondering, yes, this is a joke.

Fun fact: you can't find the shadow images anymore because they were redacted by NASA

The sound was named “Julia” because some people say in the sound there was a muffled voice that they claim is saying “Ju- Julia”.

It was the sound of the door to the abyss being opened. If you want creepy, play it at 0.25x speed.

The "Bloop" sound was recorded on 1997. And the "Julia Beast" sound was recorded on 1999. That giant shadow look like Julia Beast from NASA look like i have been Thalassophobia.

Giant sea creature and it said my name. So wonderful and scary.

From the first this sound, which came to be known as "The Bloop" was identified as a glacier-calving event or a massive ice formation gouging the seabed, yet people persist with the fanciful - and I admit, much more interesting and fun - idea that it was made by a living creature. I'm actually sorry that this isn't true.

Honestly, "Julia" sounds like I expect icebergs scraping together would sound like. "Train" and "Bloop" do not but ofc I'm not speaking from any actual experience so idk.

To me, the thing in the Apollo 11 photo could be part of a titanic and giant species of underwater life form with many individuals making weird noises and breaking icebergs with their claws.

If there's a noise in the ocean it's probably if not most likely an iceberg it is always an iceberg
