You are exactly right. One of my friends experienced the peresencee of Devi during his Navratri Sadhana, and she just said to him, "Are you doing your sadhana?" My friend question from Devi was, "Why am I that much ignorant and can not be enlightened?" and Devi gave him an indirect meaningful answer...
Just do your sadhana as intesly as possible friends, don't think about the results, at all.
