The determinant of a matrix is found as the difference between the product of elements in principal and ordinary diagonal of a 2x2 matrix. For 3x3 matrix, the determinant can be found as the algebraic sum of product of cofactors of the elements in the first row and the respective elements. Determinant of a matrix is used for ranking, for classifying a matrix as singular and non-singular, for determining the Inverse of a matrix and for simplifying simultaneous linear equations.
