How to remove your John Deere 2030 Hydraulic Lift Cover

In this video I go through the steps to remove the hydraulic lift cover or what is at times called the rockshaft cover.
This the same job as on the John Deere 1830, 2030, 2130, and right up into the 50 series with only a few minor differences.
Hello Im Lance (aka Bundy Bear) and doing these videos is my hobby. I do own Queensland Tractor Spares in Australia where I sell parts and offer technical advise to customers.

Very helpful and well made video. Thank you! I’d had my PTO shaft out and the collar fell off. Had to remove the cover and fish it out with a magnet. First time I’d ever removed the PTO shaft and the cover so I was lost haha.

Thank you, this was VERY helpful.
I need to pull the cover off a 1967 710 and have never done this before.

Very interesting. I had no idea where the flow for the remotes was adjusted at.

I was just wondering why you weren't using the impact nut gun(I watched the videos in reverse order)then out it came before I could ask ☺, great to see you back on the 2030, with this weeks 3 videos The only thing that I have seen slightly different to the 2035 is the depth control function selector lever and the actual lever that goes to the rear hydraulic auxiliary plugins, mine is the normal spring back to centre type. I have not looked inside the cover to find any other differences but when I do I'll let you know if there is. Great helpfull series of videos lance. thanks for taking the time to film & share. cheers, Derek

Hello bundy, I would like to contact you about a jd 4040, my mater is a spinning noise inside the loading piston, but I really don’t know how to open it or if it’s accessible enough from the rear to open and operate? Could you help ? Thanks Arnaud

Love your videos very helpful! Was wondering if I could get some help I got a 2040 john deere I rebuilt the steering column with your help. The worm gear striped the threads. We'll after rebuilding I'm getting air in the system and I replaced the valve that control's the flow to the colum and replaced the relief bypass valve with no luck. Is there another valve prone to causing air? Or am I missing somthing?

Hello. I hope you're doing well. I have a 1970 John Deere 3120 and the lift arms will not lower by using the lever. We recently flipped the rockshaft over and discovered atleast one e-clip fell off of the internal linkage causing the spring to fall off which is why I felt no resistance moving the rockshaft lever. The 3pt lift arms will only lower if I remove the plug on the left side. Then, once engine runs, even with the 3pt lift arm in the lowest, down position, the lift arms immediately raise on their own. We removed the check valve on the right side and discovered someone had installed it backwards. Yet after we installed it correctly, the lift arms still would not lower. Do you have any suggestions, recommendations, or advise? I wonder if one of the 2 internal valves within the rockshaft cylinder are causing it to not lower. Thanks so much for your review!

One question what is the nut and bolt in the left side of rockshaft cover?

Thank you, the video was very helpful for someone who hasn't taken the cover off before. When replacing the cover, I have a new gasket, but is there a sealant that should be used in conjunction with the gasket? If so, do you have a recommendation? Thanks again for posting your videos.

I have a JD 2940, when I removed the Rockshaft housing, there was a little hard plastic grommet sitting in a reces in the hydraulic feed side into housing.. So you know of a part number for that, I can't find one anywhere.. Thanks

I recently purchased a JD 2030 and have been wondering what the lever on the left side is that sticks up. Mine is broken off half way down but still moves okay. I just cant figure out what the heck it does. It's hard to find info online when you don't know the name of a part. Can you shed any light on this please?

should you feel resistance when moving your rock shaft lever with engine off or on? 3120 lift arms will not lift. everything else works well.

This looks the same as on a 3130? I do have 2 questions if you would sir? Our 3130's 3 point alwas worked fine but now the draft control seems a bit funky, i.e. if I put it in a position it likes to move all the way up and if I move it down again it goes all the way down if you leave it a bit. Could this be seals in the lift cover? Also the scv valve "leaks" on the raise direction. If you leave a implement connected and the tractor is running it will slowly raise up with the lever in neutral. Could this also be as simple as an old seal?. Thank you for your great videos
