Check your unloader | You might save your pump!!

Your pressure washer unloader needs to be checked if you lose water pressure. If the stem has a ring then it is bypassing water and not producing the necessary pressure.

I've got a cat pump that wouldn't idle down when trigger was released. Figured it was the unloader. Took it apart, cleaned it but couldn't figure it out. Not allowing it to win, i studied how it functions and realized that behind the chemical injector is a check valve that holds the water back allowing it to function. Duh. Someone had replaced the injector and lost the spring. Ordered a new one so hopefully should be back in service soon. Great video! Thanks.

Where I work we replace the unloader instead of rebuilding. It'll keep coming back if you try to fix something old and rotted. Plus hard water is particularly damaging to these components so we just replace everything. Business is good, Hotsy

Why not replace the oring for pennies instead of a stem which costs how much?

Should’ve taken another second to look at the unloader tip and explain if that one was worn or not

Mine is blowing water out of the port to the right of the "unloader" that your replacing and I don't know why?
Is it due to the unloaded stem?

I will have to look into it and hope it's not too late. I think algae clogged the pump due to it getting into my water tank from sitting for 2 months so need to find a way to flush that out but this might be it also.

Hi there, I’m buying Karcher HD 5/17 which I believe has a brass pump.
I’m a bit worried about the instructions what to do before storing it:

“Finishing operation
1. Close the water inlet.
2. Open the high-pressure gun.
3. Set the power switch to "I/ON" and allow the device
to run for 5-10 seconds.”

Calisum is hard on parts and dirty water will destroy it fast
Filter water if possible
