Lyrics:
Wait until the war is over
And we're both a little older
The unknown soldier

Breakfast where the news is read
Television children fed
Unborn living, living, dead
Bullet strikes the helmet's head

And it's all over
For the unknown soldier
It's all over
For the unknown soldier

Hut
Hut
Hut ho hee up
Hut
Hut
Hut ho hee up
Hut
Hut
Hut ho hee up
Comp'nee
Halt
Preeee-zent!
Arms!

Make a grave for the unknown soldier
Nestled in your hollow shoulder
The unknown soldier

Breakfast where the news is read
Television children fed
Bullet strikes the helmet's head

And, it's all over
The war is over
It's all over
The war is over
Well, all over, baby
All over, baby
Oh, over, yeah
All over, baby
Wooooo, hah-hah
All over
All over, baby
Oh, woa-yeah
All over
All over
Heeeeyyyy

The Doors again far ahead of their time. In fact, timeless.

Speaks so eloquently about the futility of war.

Extremely violent and provocative for 1968 demonstrating yet again The Doors were simply ahead of the curve

Creepy and prophetic when you see the Doors sat around a dead Jim playing their instruments....

I vividly remember seeing this film at the Doors concert at the NYC Fillmore East, March 22 1968. The audience was shocked!! to see Jim Morrison spit up blood after he was shot - the Doors must have loved to see the audience's reaction!! They showed this film near the end of the show, and afterwards the Doors returned to the stage to perform this song live...

Think of living in America in 1968. The video depicts the world as it was and real life. Reflects on Vietnam and Ww2 as wars never stop coming. The Doors made this record of it, and it's timeless, as humans repeat themselves.

I have never seen this before. Very interesting and I have to remember that Jim was a film student and Thank God he was because he left us with great imagery like this. No doubt the other band members had input but I can clearly see Jim's influence in all of their films and the visual lyrics he wrote. Jim was a dramatic, Sagittarius to begin with too.

15 million died in WW1. 55 million in WW2. 2 million died in Korea. At least 4 million died in Vietnam. 2 million Cambodia. Over a million died in Iran-Iraq. Over 2 million died in Soviet Afghan. The Gulf War 1 and 2, and the war on terror and all spinoffs add a million more. The Yugoslavia break up, Rwanda, Russo invasion of Ukraine, add another million. It's all over for the unknown Soldiers. It's never ending.

I think this is also a shot at his father, who was an Admiral in the US Navy, and had a key part in the opening of hostilities by the US....

The name of the husky in the video is Rikki and was borrowed for the shoot from the bands sound engineer John Haeny.

Sheer brilliance in a song!! This song alone makes Waiting For The Sun a great album.

Particularly powerful this week, what with the news from Kabul.
Respect to all men and women killed in the line of military duty.
