Idk man, SoaSe was always there to watch epic battles in space, at least for me. Thats why the modding scene with total conversions for like halo and star wars is so good.

The big issue in the first game was lagg when big fleets met or when generally playing on bigger maps. SoaSe2 is fluid even with maxed out armies or on bigger maps. That was the biggest upgrade i was looking for in a sequel.

On top of that we got weapons moving independetly from each other, while just having beautiful graphics. Even my old pc can handle the game without laggs. Rlly well optimized.

And alot more, but those points are the most important things. I dont need the wheel reinvented, all i needed was an upgrade and we went from road to racing tyres. Not new, but alot better.

This review is somewhat lacking. The game is exactly what I want and have been waiting for. Also, I take special affront to the comment that battles rely on economics. Yes, battles DO rely on economics, and why shouldn’t this be the case? You can’t built a large force without paying for it!

I’m glad this game is like it is. Good!

"Making the game feel like a grander, more intense version of Starcraft" - wat. Also, nothing about this "review" was "brutal" - focus on less clickbait, more depth, and a script that doesn't sound like it was generated by ChatGPT.

0:29 except that it did't, because haegemonia and Imperium galactica did the same thing years before
0:39 No Map in Sins Rebellion or Sins 2 is on a galactic scale, there are mostly single star system maps or a handful of stars
0:57 the scale is similar to stellaris but into the opposite direction: less empire management, more tactics
1:20 ok this untrue, good micro management means the difference between victory and defeat in most cases, unless on side is greatly outnumbered. I know few space rts, that reward good micro more than sins 2/rebellion with all the capital ship powers and unit synergies
1:28 You don't just watch, you actively command the battles (which aren't on galactic scale). Passively watching them is how you lose. Honestly, it sounds like you are describing stellaris and not sins 2
2:00 "more intense version of starcraft" ... eh what??? how do these games even compare?
2:15 Sadly, this is kinda true: the game does a horrible job of exposing it's mechanics to new players and the tutorial is kinda a joke
2:25 The aesthetic of the game is exactly what sins rebellion players have been asking for. The AI stuff is a non issue, because it was trained on internally sourced artworks ( If it is even in the game, which Ironclad has somewhat denied)
2:44 Singleplayer AI is kinda weak tbf
2:57 "with more dynamic interactions" word salad to describe that anything can happen in MP
3:18 "robust tactical layer" more buzzword salad. What does this even mean?
3:25 see 1:20 The complete opposite is true, you are describing stellaris not sins2
3:56 That is true, because sins rebellion fans have benn asking for a sequel for more than a decade
4:22 It would have been great if you elaborated a bit more on the "questionable aesthetic choices", because the general sentiment is, that the game looks fantastic.

Not a fan of you showing sins1 UI and tech trees in a review about sins2.

If your going to throw those in the review, you should explictly say in some way, that its sins1 stuff. A casual watcher who never played it, will see your video, and think that sins2 is using early 2000s UI.

Thanks for an honest review. I'm going to give it another year of cooking before I decide to buy it or drop it from wishlist.

The game isn't that good if you have to go through choke points just to fight each other in open space 😂
