Uconnect + iPhone: How to Send & Receive Text Messages

Hey, iPhone users. Imagine having your text messages read out loud as you receive them. Well, Uconnect works with your iPhone to do just that, so you can keep your attention on the road and your hands safely on the wheel.

All you need to do is enable notifications when you pair your iPhone with the Uconnect System. To do that from your phone, go to SETTINGS, then Bluetooth, and tap the information icon next to Uconnect. Make sure SHOW NOTIFICATIONS is enabled.

Now, the Uconnect System will let you know when you receive a text message.

UCONNECT SYSTEM: You have 1 new text message.

Press the PHONE button on the steering wheel. Wait for the beep. Then say, “Listen”.

UCONNECT SYSTEM: I’ll pick up dinner tonight on my way home.

If equipped with Siri Eyes Free, you can also say and send a reply. Press and hold the VR button to activate Siri. You'll hear Siri's familiar double beep.

Then, say, "Send text message to Dennis. You’re the best. Thank you!"

And there you go. You can keep your phone tucked away and still stay connected. It’s convenient, hands-free and easy. Together, Uconnect and your iPhone let you sit back… and focus on driving.

Every since I upgraded to iOS 13, I stop getting text alerts through my car. I truly hope Apple fixes this. It was such a neat feature on my 2019 Grand Cherokee.

Doesn’t work anymore. I suspect it is an IOS issue with latest updates.
