Who is the instructor for this lesson? I'm now a bit confused as to why he used the variable to cancel out when I just got comfortable canceling out the integer to keep variables.. ugh. Like doesn't it work to reciprocate -7k for +7k = -9 (-7k) to keep the variable? Explain, please...

Hello. Quick question. Why are we able to change the order of subtraction in this case, ie 9-8? Is it because 7k is an unlike term to 9? or what is this rule called? thank you!

Sorry, I'm a college freshman after a long time away from math. After thinking about it for awhile, I think I see that if there is a string of subtractions, the order won't matter as long as the first number is the same. EX 2-12-4 = 2-4-12 but does not equal 4-2-12. Can you give me a pointer of what this principle is called or what keyword I can use to get a more in depth explanation of this? I've tried googling about this but I'm not having much luck.

Maybe after I watch 14 more times I'll get it! 🤦🏽‍♀️😔

why is it not 1 and 1/4 instead of 5/4??? 1.25 would be simpler in my mind. gets rid of fractions and gives the same answers.
