Answering a recent YouTube comment: "When you're doing a shoot, do you constantly switch between 24fps and 60fps to get both regular and slow motion footage? Is it possible to play 60fps back on your 24fps timeline and have it be in regular motion?" Let's talk frame rates for video!

Also, one thing I didn’t mention that would be helpful. Here’s the question that was asked: “Should timeline always be 24fps when uploading footage whether it be 24, 60, or 120fps that you filmed footage?“

My answer: “I’ve never used a timeline that wasn’t 24p. If you shoot every shot at 60p and never slow it down, you could do a 60p timeline. Same goes for 120p. But if you’re looking to slow down 60 and/or 120fps footage, then you’ll want a 24fps timeline. Because essentially what you’re doing when you slow your footage down is instead of playing it back at 60 or 120p, you’re playing it back at 24fps (i.e. about 5x slo motion for 120fps). If you shoot any clips at 24fps, you automatically want a 24p timeline.”

Jordan! Thank you for this video! I was just trying to figure this out on my own and I saw this video pop up on my feed! Your videos have been incredibly helpful! I live in Indiana and was wondering if I could possibly shadow you on one of your shoots this year? I'm really trying to make a career out of wedding videography and would love to see how a shoot works from BTS I could even film you for a job shadowing video 😊 I would love the opportunity! Thanks again for the video 😁
