This video shows you how to install new spark plugs on your 2015-2019 Hyundai Sonata. Spark is one of the four required components for an internal combustion engine to run. If your spark plugs are failing, worn, or dirty, you may experience rough starts, rough idle, poor performance, or poor mileage.

This repair was done on a 2015 Hyundai Sonata SE 2.4L Sedan 4-Door FWD Automatic and the process should be similar on the following vehicles:

I have a 2017 sonata sport 2.4l gdi engine. It burns oil uncontrollably. Did tests at dealership & was burning 3 qts every 1k mi yet they still fought with me that it doesn't need a new engine. I'm going to a different dealership to see my luck with them. Bc of all this the oil gets black extremely fast even tho I'm constantly adding oil. But my spark plugs blow sooo much. No exaggerating, I've changed them about 15-20 times in last 2 yrs. If I get close to time of needing an oil change, they'll blow or I'll feel it misfiring knowing they're gonna of I don't get oil change asap. I'm a female & bc of how easy you explained how to change a spark plug, I now do it myself & have every time they blew other than the very first time when the dealership charged me $145 to change 1. They used the cheapest spark plug possible too bc when I had to change it again, the brand was the cheapest I've seen.
Don't buy a hyundai bc they give u 100k warranty bc these cars have so many issues. It's not worth it. I've had older cars that I didn't have this many issues with. Don't do it with Hyundai or you'll regret it like myself & many others do!

Replaced the spark plugs in 2016 sonata 2.4l, but now it's sometimes having trouble starting. if left sit for a while it fails to start, loses power (dash info and clock resets) and then the next try it starts and runs fine after that. Got a new battery in the past month, checked all the grounds, alternators charges fine, battery voltage is good. I'll check the plugs again when I have time

One of your steps is ‘set the spark plug to 15 foot pounds torque’ how do you do this? A special wrench? I just have a basic wrench set

Don't you have to set the gap on the new spark plugs before install?
