This type of Bible binding from Cambridge is one of my favorites. While not floppy like goatskin they are still very very nice. For overall durability they are like little tanks. They still feel nice and they last for years. Great review as usual.

When my mother -- still a practicing Catholic -- saw that I was reading the ESV (first time I was reading a Bible in decades), the first question she asked was, "Is that a Catholic Bible?" And I said "No, but there are Catholic editions of this translation, they're just so new that they're not particularly easy to find." (At the time, I had gone to Amazon . . . and not much there for ESV-CE.) It's nice to see more coming out (still don't have a CE version yet, even though the ESV part of my stack continues to grow), and that looks to be a pretty NICE one!

I had to send my back for a replacement. The inside pages pulled away from the cover. They were not glued very well. For a premium bible, this was not what I expected. I hope the replacement is better.

I just received mine from Amazon and I hard to return it. As soon as I took it out of the box, the cover detached from the spine. Poor gluing for sure. I am returning it for a replacement on the hope I received a defective one. But I have heard similar complaints from others.

Hi Tim. Thanks for the review. This is the best premium Catholic Bible I have seen to date, which integrates all of the books into their correct places. I wanted to enquire about the paste down liner, is this cardboard liner or is it more of a synthetic material that is more flexible? Thanks for the review.

I recently purchased this Holy Bible. My only criticism about it concerns the amount of “see through” on the pages; it’s enough that I do find it distracting. I was very surprised and disappointed by this due to the listed paper thickness and the overall price. Thanks and God bless.

Nice review as always! I have been reading from this Bible now for two weeks. (Part of my yearly read through). At first, I was not sure on keeping it as it was very costly and was missing a few key features. (Cross reference, colored maps, not edge lined etc). However, I have come to LOVE this Bible. First, it is an actual Catholic Version of the ESV that is of decent quality. Second, and important to me, I have actually come to appreciate the build. The leather is soft, yet very "sturdy". Same for the paper and overall feel of the Bible. It feels good in hand, and not like I'm going to destroy it in a number of months by using it daily and taking it places with me. While I love my Schuyler Quentel RSV\Apocrypha, it feels much more fragile than this in a number of aspects and is more of a shelf\heirloom quality to me. Anyway, sorry to ramble - thanks as always for a great review and all that you do!

You should review the Augustine Institute ESV-CE bibles 🙏 especially beings they’re more affordable than the Cambridge option.

I've searched without success, but would you know if there is an NRSV-CE premium Bible on the market? The Word on Fire series looks beautiful but I was hoping to find a simpler, traditional format that I could carry with me everywhere (compact/personal size, ideally). Not bonded, or faux leather. Thank you!

Thank you! You mentioned that the text from the next page shows through a little more than you would expect. Did you find that problematic? I think that's the only downside I can see with this edition. I don't think I can really stretch to a Schuyler but I might just manage one of these!

Tim, I just ran across your video on the Catholic ESV Bible. My question is that I have been going to my local Christian bookstore and I really like the non-Catholic ESV large print reference Bible. My question is what’s the difference between Catholic and non-Catholic bibles? Is the New Testament the same in both bibles? I am leaning towards the non-Catholic Bible because of the superior quality and feel in my hands. I also like to have cross references. I hope you get this message and reply.

Seems like you don't get a lot for $133.00. Even the artificial cover is around 88 bucks. For that price I want a study bible.
