Had layover in DEN last Thursday (morning) and Saturday (evening). Did the Centurion Thursday and C1 Saturday.

C1 was much better hands down. Hopefully they continue to expand their footprint!

I was exclusively Amex for years, wouldn’t touch another card brand. However, as they’ve increased the annual fees and added ridiculous credits, I dropped down to only having five AMEX cards. Most of our daily spend goes on the Capital One Venture X and Savor card. we probably spend about $5000-$6000 a month on our Savor card, with $1300 a month on that being our MLS season ticket package. Set our largest spend category is entertainment and dining out, the 4% cashback with an annual fee of $95 makes way more sense than the AMEX card where I just never used the credits and could never justify the annual fee.

Capital One Venture X hands down ! They increased my limit to $50, 000 without asking . They stepping up their games quietly. Soon they will add discover eco system and their will be win win situation for everyone.

I have both but would like to see more Capital One lounges on the west coast.

🥊 1.) AmEx for 15 years. Have never had an issue that wasn't promotly solved, great service. Never had a CapitalOne card, tho.
2.) Delta Biz Reserve for now, though new to the hobby. Still meets all my travel needs, plus status. Prob Venture X on the other side, though haven't researched the options in-depth.
3.) Prob not possible - I like having a 2nd option.

🥊 I like AMEX, I love the gold card but currently have the platinum and I'm already exclusive with them. 😅

1. C1 - Because of simplicity and costs.
2. VX and SavorOne
3. Lounge access and higher earn rate on SavorOne 🥊

I'm thinking about going with an Amex plus Cashback setup including my USBAR, so Amex. Favorite card is Schwab Platinum. No one can go exclusive with Amex though unless you want to be occasionally SOL. 🥊

🥊 have the AmEx Platinum, none of the Cap1 CCs. Amex needs to up the other category to at least 1.5%.

One thing that bugs me about my Amex Gold is I want to use my credits on a resort stay. But on the Hotel Collection the cost (for example) on a resort is 500$ a night, if I googled the same resort on the same date it will show up for lile $200 a night. Its like Amex is gouging the prices of the Hotels up to make up.

🥊
1) AMEX
2) Best card: AMEX Gold
2) Chalking my AMEX setup to chase Delta Status is such an L. I wish the Blue Biz Plus were a charge card, or that AMEX had a charge card offering 2x I could use as my catch all. Spiking the BBP for a second DLRes stinks. Plan is to get Venture X as catch all...(The 5 card rule is annoying when mixing personal and business)

6:38 🥊 My family spends $2.5K/mo on groceries, but our primary vendor doesn’t code as groceries on Amex 😭😭😭 only codes as groceries on Chase/Capital One.

i’m not sure if it’s true or not but I heard if you have too many cards Capital One will not let you get approved for a venture X🥊

🥊 Capital One VX. It gets the majority of my spend because I can reliably get outsized value from transferring to Wyndham and then Vacasa. Booking a 1bdr vacation rental that sleeps 6 on the beach for 15K points per night feels like cheating. I can reliably get 2cpp that way without having to mess with hotel/flight award alerts.

I still use the Gold card for grocery/restaurants, but I’ll probably drop it next year since the fee increased just after my renewal. For me to keep it or go exclusive I would need a good 2x any spend AMEX option as well as cell phone insurance coverage. Not having to pay AppleCare Family for four phones is a $312 a year savings. It’s one of the biggest value and overlooked benefits of the VX.

Question for you: Any predictions for the update Fidelity Rewards+ card they’re supposedly working on?

🥊I have Amex Platinum and Gold, as well as Capital One Venture X. In terms of customer service Amex is like a 5 star resort and Capital One is like a motel 6. Having booked a top hotel with both of their platforms, Amex was seamless and was able to talk with them if I had any issues, they took care of it on my behalf. Capital one instead just said they couldn’t help when the hotel said they have no reservation under the booking number and name.

That being said I recommend the platinum and Amex as a whole to big spenders and travelers, but the Capital one is an amazing start to premium cards with decent perks. An essentially free (+$5) annual fee card with little to no work is not bad. I do think Amex holds the top by a far margin, but also the slightest bit hopeful for Cap one even after being burned so many times.

Cap X always denies... almost at a point to just call them just to say fuck you.

After Covid, I decided that I really want to travel more, so I'm going to try out Amex Plat for 1 year. My sister has decided to try out the Venture X card herself, so I'll see how it goes.
I was also considering the Sapphire preferred card as well, but my credit can't handle anymore dings, so, that's for next year, so lets see how it goes, and do an actual use comparison between the top two consumer luxury cards.

Capital One and Amex are my favorite CC companies, so it is a tie. 🥊
Spark Cash Plus, Hilton Aspire
