The key to this one is nailing the upstrokes and string mutes. My best advice is to memorize the patterns and play them super super slow. Once you can do that, you'll be able to work it up to speed in time.

I used standard tuning for ease of teaching the song. The album and unplugged versions are in standard tuning, but the Scott Weiland & Dean Deleo version (which this is referenced from) is standard tuning down one and one quarter step.

Ya for sure, I use elixir light 12-53 so they can handle it. I wouldn't recommend much lighter of a string set for an acoustic, it'll sound pretty thin.
