So far this is easily the most informative Pycharm Tutorial I've come across. There are others who are using it in their tutorials but they're not really hitting on the Pycharm functionality like you did. I'd def. be interested in a continuation and I think over time, it'd get a lot of views. Keep it going!

I spent a long time finding the best IDE for Python before starting my PhD, and now you've confirmed for me that Pycharm is the way to go. Thank you for your video!

I urgently need to install advanced optimization solvers such as Gurobi on pycharm that unfortunately does not support, have you ever tried that?

And also are they any recommendation for good packages? Only if it's required.

Very nice explanation of what looks like a great toolkit. I'm accustomed to Visual Studio for C++, however, when I started to learn Python I've been doing it the bare-bones way. I have 2 or 3 versions of Python installed but writing my Python code I end up using Notepad++ and to run or execute it, I have the Python Interpreter integrated into Windows Command Prompt. I went this route to better understand the language and how the interpreter works before trying to use it in an IDE that will do a lot of things for you. In some ways, it is a better learning experience. I'm still a bit new to Python and I'm starting to catch on to it fairly quickly. Once I become more proficient with the language and the interpreter then I can start to look at using either Python, VS Code, or even Visual Studio. Right now, I'm still used to C++ being a strongly typed language and I'm used to using semicolons to close out all executable statements. So when I switch over to write Python code, old C/C++ habits want to kick in... Other than that, a very good explanation.

So why do you use sublime text in the new videos

Please why is it that in IDLE I can simply type a math expression like 5+3, press enter and I get the correct answer but when I do the same in Pycharm it doesn't work unless I use variable assignment? Shouldn't both be using the same Python syntax?

I love PyCharm. My only problem with it is that it's Java-based, and the corporate on-access virus scanner freaks out whenever a compressed file--including JARs--gets accessed. It takes forever to load and quit, and every so often the whole program will freeze while the mcshield scans the entire jar file that got tapped when I used some feature that's not in memory. I've just about trained myself to disable the scanner (it turns itself back on every few minutes) before loading or quitting, and when the screen freezes because I hovered the mouse over a new error pointer or used find/replace I know to disable it again.

Hey guys, can anyone help me with the installation? I am new to Python and it's asking to download the plugins -> IdeaVim and Markdown language support. Is it necessary?

I come from a hardware C programming background and find PyCharm kind of overwhelming. It uses about 5.5Meg of disk space just to create a project. I really don't understand why there needs to be a seperate config file for each file in the project, that seems kind of strange. A lot of bells and whistles that I guess is usefull if you are coding large projects.
