Melanie Coe - She's Leaving Home - The Beatles

Показать описание
Melanie Coe ran away from home in 1967 when she was 15. Paul McCartney read about her in the papers and wrote 'She's Leaving Home' for Sgt.Pepper's. Melanie didn't know Paul's song was about her, but actually, the two did meet earlier, when Paul was the judge and Melanie a contestant in Ready Steady Go!

The subtitles are produced live for The One Show, so some seconds late and with a few mistakes.

Carrie was stunning in those days. David Grant is a very lucky man.

That's why I love Paul McCartney above the other members of the Beatles he is instinctive and read the game of life very well

Great story, shame about the subtitels, it's confusing this way.

If I'd be her I would have that engraved on my tombstone. "The Beatles wrote a song about me."

I'm glad she can be so relaxed about the whole incident now.
At 60 years old (in 2010) she's still looking great! She was the pick of the bunch for me in that Ready, Steady, Go! line up and I've sometimes wondered what happened to her - amazing to find out that her life had that extra twist in it.

I always thought nothing musically could possibly ever move me emotionally to the point of tears until the first time this song was played on the girl living next door's turntable, which I could hear coming from her bedroom window. I remember being relieved that I was outside in the yard by myself because in those days, being a male meant you were to never cry about anyone or anything lest you be considered something less than a man even if you were still just a 12 year old boy.

I seriously had NO idea about this song. I'm glad she went back with her parents and everything went okay.

To correct your video description Melanie Coe was 17 when she ran away from home...Not 15.

Fabulous video except for the subtitles. Is there a version without them?

Is it just me, or after watching this incredible story about how Paul and Melanie are so connected in many ways, Paul should have rang her up after mourning for Linda and tied the knot with Melanie and lived happily ever after. And what a beauty to boot:)

How could she treat them so thoughtlessly?

Great story and great interview! I had tips and bits of it along the years, but the report put everything as a whole and give us the interesting perspective of Melanie herself. And I love this song!

In the mid-70s I attended a session of the Anna Scher Theatre School in north London and saw a teenaged girl acting to the song, her only prop was a chair: it was brilliant. Years later, I realised that the girl was either Linda Robson or Pauline Quirke, (I can't remember which one as they were both there), who both grew up to become famous TV actresses.

Tengo entendido que Melanie Coe intentó ser actriz en EU, y conoció y fué pareja del actor Burt Ward que hacía de Robin en la serie de TV Batman&Robin en los años 60s.
