This & Eleanor Rigby are the crowing achievement of Paul McCartney and the Beatles. The harmony, the poignant orchestral music, the emotional story telling lyrics - such a masterpiece.

This sad, melancholy song certainly is a total contrast to the music of the Beatles from their early years, like “Love Me Do” and “ I want to Hold Your Hand”. But the Beatles were just brilliant at both kinds of song, and their songs just got even better right up to their break up in 1970. And they leave such a wonderful legacy and their songs will be sung as long as humanity survives, no doubt at all about that. The Beatles were without question the greatest pop group of all time, with only Abba, in my opinion, coming anywhere remotely close.

Makes me think of my sister she died back in 2012 ..she was a wild child, running away, being a hellion ...but she was sweet as an angel 😇 lord I hope we meet in heaven.

One of the best songs the Beatles made. Heartbreaking in a number of ways. The daughter has no real relationship with her parents as they think buying her things is their job as parents, while having things is the last thing she needs. And the parents don't understand, "What did we do that was wrong, we didn't know it was wrong." They were in the dark and ignorant of what their own child needed, they weren't intentionally bad parents. Tragic circumstances that many families experience.

My boys grew up with minial material items. They didnt go on holiday abroad. We camped every summer and made memories and had fun on very little. I thought I fsiled them as a mum but i know different now. They knew and still do how much they were and are loved.

The topic of this song reminds me of Fastball "The Way" where the adult children's elderly parents suddenly took off, abandoned their car when it broke down and started walking, and mysteriously disappeared.. 😭

Something is off on the synching of the vocals and the instruments.

I saw at 10 yr old Aunt Darlene and Uncle Gene.
And she went 19 and she went away.
I kissed her on a cheek, and she's gone. ;-(
