Looks awesome! But I think the future of holograms isn't inside a box.

At $60K/per unit the business case isn't there compared to a video app which is free or nearly free and uses the computers you already have. This would not pass Shark Tank scrutiny.

Don’t think this will ever get cheap enough to supplant Zoom tbh. That’s really cool though.

How to spend 100x as much money to get an extra 1/100th benefit.

Americans first release a US foldable phone and you will get holograms someday 😂

who said zoom fatigue is spreading...? many firms attempted to mandate employees to go back to physical offices and many have left because of it. One of the more prominent examples of this is Apple. Zoom fatigue should not be confused with work fatigue. Many will be just as tired if they are at work in physical office space.

when it comes to this market research like video/commercial (?) I can see the benefits of this for specific events, but for office work, having an oversized screen for nothing but meetings seems like a complete overkill. More specifically, I find it amusing how every single demonstration of VR/XR/whatever this large screen really is, showcases architects using this type of technology. While entertaining, the AEC field still struggles with software illiteracy. VR is still a distant concept that no client is really willing to pay extra for. Why would they if it doesn't contribute to the final product (the built building). Most would rather save the time/effort/money and use simple renderings to generate decisions.

We use holograms at Northrop Grumman to design aircraft so engineers can visualize the aircraft and parts in 3D

Come on... that is not someone “beaming in” as a hologram. It’s a high resolution projection screen.

Before “Zoom fatigue” it was “endless meetings.” It’s a job, fancy technology isn’t going to make it more pleasant. It will just add even more work. Keep things simple.

Very epic! The video producer of this video did a great job.

1. This is expensive.
2. This is expensive.
3. This is expensive version of zoom. Can still have same problems.

Zoom is any to any collaboration - everyone has an equal ability to contribute (with reasonable or bad quality). Whereas the Proto example is one way - an audience can see the presenter, the presenter cannot see the audience with the same clarity - this just shows what happens if the presenter goes to the effort of using high production values.

I’m not even remotely interested in this. Hologram fatigue would be 100x worse than zoom fatigue.

Like all technology: This will be great for dudes to show their junk to total strangers.

Love proto for events, large crowds and entertainment, but I fear that MR will reduce most use cases on this.

the future will be you'll see the person appear in 3D when you simply put on holo glasses.

That box isn't really a hologram tho. A real hologram should be able to float wherever in the room without a screen

If this were affordable and dependable, I do think this would be very useful.
