I lived, for about 15 years, across the road from train tracks. They ran parallel with the street I lived on, and I can absolutely understand your saying that it's kind of comforting.
There were a lot more trains passing than at your place, though - several a day, and through the night, too.
I sold the house and lived in my van for a few years, and didn't think about the trains until I parked near the tracks again for a while, and I realized that I had actually missed hearing them! 😄😄

Your stove has a *middle burner!!!!* I've never ever seen that before and I recognize All things mid century by nature. What a total Score! I love your place, sincerely. That larger table is waiting somewhere to be recognized, it's just not been materialized yet. We can't force these things. I wish I could give you one of mine. I have the one I'm sitting at in my room that's a sunshine yellow enamel with chrome trim and legs and wood underneath. It's a kitchen farm table with the leaves that tuck under and a silverware drawer I keep makeup junk in. I also have another of the same type out on my porch that was my grandmother's but it's red and white. I keep my gardening bits and bobs in the silverware drawer out there. I love them both so much!

Your upper cabinets are Awesome with the rounded details on the doors!! I have a late 40's-50's metal lower cupboard from one of the kitchens in my 4-plex that I'm using as a gardening storage. Wish you could have that too!!! I let the enamel sink/drainboard and faucet get nabbed by scrappers because I wasn't fast enough in deciding I wanted it instead of making a totally flat surface. Kicking myself, but I can't take any of it with me when I'm forced to move to a much smaller studio this summer, so oh well. I'm totally serious, if you're in Mpls I'd be happy to pass on some Awesome vintage needful things. Alley scoring over here is Ridiculous and I can't let beautifully crafted vintage/antiques go to a landfill so my place is just this side of hoarder. I'm facing having to downsize that with 800 sq ft of living space to 350 sq ft if I'm lucky! This classist society is killing off not only bygone skilled artsmanship, but also the artist as well. Seeing empty condos replacing us and our beloved buildings we've struggled so hard to maintain is just tragic. I'm ready to swap it all for plants, animals and sunshine. When I have those I need little else.

Anyway, your kitchen floor can be painted, stenciled and sealed and will last a really long time if you can spare a few days to stay off it and let the poly top coats dry. I adore what you're doing so far! And I LOVE your basket purse collection too!

As a musician at heart, I’m so glad I found you, and pray you are doing well💕 Thank you for even putting yourself out there! In a different life, I’d be out in the country enjoying the simple pleasures of music, friends, homemade bread, an old cook stove, and probably horses. My favorite childhood book was Strawberry Girl, and I travelled solo during college through Spain and the Netherlands, and I am most energized by Jerry Garcia ballads and Irish music in general. For now, I’m a bookkeeper with a great family, and strong in my faith that God made each of us unique! So DO what you do, living life, and keep on ‘Spoonin’❣️
