Do Kylo & Rey REALLY Trust Each Other? Would They Kill Each Other Like Disney Killed Star Wars?

One of the greatest things this fight scene does is explore the trust and distrust Kylo and Rey have in one another.

Kylo ARMS Rey and trusts her not to kill him when she turns and faces him with her light sabre.
When he ignites his light sabre Rey doesn't flinch, but right after showing a level of trust. The fight highlights their distrust by having them maintain eye contract for as long as possible as they turn. It's like they're worried the other is going to unleash the deadly T-Virus on them the moment their back is turned.
Kylo, with his back turned to Rey, doesn't react when he sees her light sabre appear beside him. Personally, a glowing sword doing a jump scare right beside me would scare me more than any creature feature.
Anyway, this shows his trust in Rey is growing.
After trusting each other to not kill one another, the next level is needed. Rey touches Kylo Ren's hip and they must trust each other to actively HELP one another.
When Rey dispatches her last guard and throws her light sabre to Kylo she doesn't realize that she's disarmed herself. Like a Resident Evil immune system against the deadly T-Virus, she's defenseless.
What if Kylo was thinking "The enemy of my enemy is my friend?" What if his heart is the Umbrella Corporation of the Star Wars universe? Hm. Does the Resident Evil universe have an equivalent to a Kylo Ren?
If his trust was based on having a common enemy that's now vanquished, Rey is now trapped in a room with Kylo who has BOTH light sabres (TWICE as scary as a creature feature now)!
It's at this moment that she realizes her trust may have been naive because Kylo's trust may have been nuanced.

Now THAT is a brilliant way to explore the relationship between characters THROUGH fight choreography!

A well written scene, but not a well choreographed one.

The best part of this scene is where reys lightsaber grows super long in one shot. The other great thing is the guards who have multiple instant kill shots but decide to hit the floor or their light saber instead of rey or kylo. Absolutely DREADFULLY written fight scene. Compare this to Anakin vs obi wan or dual of the fates.

This trilogy feels like each film was written by a different person, and each person wanted to take the story in completely different directions, and none of them had ever seen a Star Wars movie before.

yeah! I've held the opinion that the fight is "well directed, badly choreographed"
like how the camera angles in the fight, as one example, having a wide shot of Kylo having a good amount of space and comfortable distance from the guards. as the fight progresses, the camera zooms in a little closer, making the viewer feel more restrained just like Kylo is as he's attacked at different angles. as one of the guards places Kylo in a chokehold, the camera zooms in very close. the tighter shot composition signifies Ren's loss of space, and maximizes the restraint that the viewer feels.

of course that doesn’t excuse all the numerous other choreographic mistakes which I'm sure has been outlined at length by the other commenters. these are also correct.

man, all these comments. I understand the hate for Ep8, but it’s like none of these guys can say "yeah the movie 99% sucked but I guess I can say this miniscule aspect you've outlined was good"
or even just "I respectfully disagree with your assesment of this scene. here’s why"
but no. everything, *everything* about it must be bad. have some sense of nuance, guys.

Okay never thought of that honestly makes the scene a little bit more entertaining.
Seeing it the first time was cool but it just was a somewhat decent movie trying to make its own big move but didn’t fallow the story set up by the previous movie.
It also didn’t feel connected at times and focused on visuals for some scenes and some of the characters weren’t really needed while some interesting plot points didn’t get the attention they deserved
