The show makes fairly clear that the Italian end and the American end are very, very different beasts and that the Italians do not respect the Americans. They'd take Tony's money or act favourable to keep their deals i place but I don't think they care about what Tony wants.

the way they got rid of Furio was so weak. It was like he gained too much popularity and then they created some stupid reasoning to get rid of him. IMO they seriously shouldn't have done that and during the finale when they called Italy to get some backup woulda been perfect to bring him back. It's a great show but some things they dropped the ball on.

Furio was Annalisa's best asset, she was never going to hand him over to Tony over some stupid ego thing. It's clear the Neapolitans didn't respect NJ.

This was a very very deeply stupid fan theory. They'd had zero reason to care or do anything but welcome him back. Dude was one of the few winners of the show by escaping the implosion.

Furio was, for all intents and purposes, sold to Tony. He didn't betray his family. If he returned to his family in Naples, they basically got their money back. He would be welcome to return.

Annalisa Zucca (the acting boss in Napoli) also said that Furio was her cousin. There’s no way she would off Furio, even if “cousin” was just a figure of speech when she told Tony that. Had he actually gone through with pursuing Carmela and had the affair, maybe it’d be a different story. But the Italians would sooner cut NY and NJ off than kill one of their own.

Furio was the best
And the fact that he didn’t sleep with Carmella made him better

Growing up in Italy, I had a friend who's name was Furio.

Tony is too smart to make a beef about this. Not only would he embarrass himself but every family in America and Italy would know about this. If Italy does nothing, it makes New Jersey look weak. If they manage to kill Furio, everyone will know why it that also makes Tony look weak. He knew to just tell Carmella that and move on

They didn’t kill him. But Furios uncles reaction to his confession that he loved Carmela did not suggest he viewed Tony as a joke. He said “Sopran?!?” and became legitimately worried.

My theory is Carmella flew out to Napoli to find him after Tony’s death. He was happy to see her. They took a week vacation down to Amalfi and Capri. After that, they drove back to Napoli and he dropped her off at the airport. Having spent a week with Carmella he learned it wasn’t what he thought it would be and told her he didn’t love her. Carmella flew back home crying the whole way and blaming Tony for everything in her mind.

They got rid of him because he was leaking info about the show, supposedly.

There's a channel called TalkingSopranos and it has the actors who played Christopher and Bobby. They had the actor who played Furio on and he said thats the reason why he was let go.

Yeah it’s not even a theory honestly, Furio is fine if New York takes the New Jersey Mob as a joke, why makes anyone thing that the mob in Italy/Sicily would take New Jersey seriously they may consider New York but Jersey nah
