The JX3P had MIDI. There was a firmware update which made it velocity sensitive via MIDI, even though the keyboard itself wasn't. The JX3P was one of Roland's earliest MIDI synths. I think the first was the Jupiter 6? Edit- Roland's website says that they were released at the same time, so the JX3P and Jupiter 6 were the first Roland MIDI synths. The first Roland MIDI keyboard I tried was a digital Piano which I think pre-dated the JX3P. I used a prototype MIDI interface for an Apple II to record and play back notes from the piano with MIDI.

The real strength is the XV-5080 and how much easier it is to edit than the original. Worth of the price of admission alone

I have the subscription, and I imagine being 17 years old walking in a Guitar Center and surrounded by all of these amazing instruments.i remember seeing the JV-1080 was high-end item. I would have needed thousands of dollars or win a shopping spree, which essentially what it feels like when for 20.00 a month, essentially I am living a dream. It is one of the best cloud services. They are adding new items all the time. The Composer unit that let's you develop instrument combos is amazing. I have the Vienna Symphonic Library, and I think that the SRX Orchestra and other Orchestral kits produce surprisingly wonderful sounds that can blend in nicely with the hyper realistic VSL strings. It is a good time to be a musician. It is free, try it out just to play with the instruments.

Very nice & useful video:...Roland VST replica of original digital sinths are OK but there's a thing I don't understand: if you want to buy and download one of these, you are required to make (and pay) a annual subscription???

I installed Roland Cloud recently, but think the trial does not exist any more? All I can see are free presets, but you still need the vst synth to use them, so can't make any sounds or demo for free. Hopefully I'm missing something, otherwise what's the point!

Roland cloud customer service, communications and aftercare responses were extremely poor. My payment method failed due to fraudulent activity on a bank card. Instead of letting me know and giving me the opportunity to resolve Roland Cloud just closed down my account then informed me. The problem now is the subscription costs are more expensive as I have been a long standing customer. I raised a ticket for support which was met with very little compassion or understanding. The ticket was then closed prematurely without resolving.

I'm trying some new monitors, the fluid audio fx8. They are cheap and clean with big bass extension. I was looking for some sub to add to my rokit6 but went this route instead, mainly beacause i would need 2 subs and they are not cheap.
Still need to set them properly and burn them in.
The real concern is that they made use of lead as I discovered reading the manual.
Placing them in my bedroom may not be the case.

Please help me, I have had the jv1080 sounds freeze up on my a few times live in Logic, it’s so bad that I had to force Logic close to stop it, what am I doing wrong, I’ve uninstalled the app and the sounds and reinstalled

I really don't care if you have all of those sounds, its just not worth spending your money on this... what is the point if you don't get to keep any of the vst's permanently, especially for the amount of money that you are paying for them every month/year, this is an even bigger scam than Adobe with after effects, this is bullshit, with all the money they made from the actual hardware synths back in the day, they should release these plugins for free to everyone, you get good sounds but never get to keep any of them, once your subscription is done they keep all the plugins that you are essentially RENTING from roland, this is an obvious scam! You shouldn't have to pay for digital sounds... you get a better deal if you look for the actual keyboards the sounds came from themselves and buy it... if roland released something like the Komplete collection or omnispheres, where all we have to do is pay a one time fee and enjoy the sounds would have no issues

D16 have been doing awesome Roland VSTs for years now. Deffo worth checking out easier on the wallet.

I’m an original owner of the jv2080. I’m glad Roland has decided to make the 1080 vst. But I wish they would recreate the srjv80 series expansion cards. I bought two 2080’s for $600 and have now collected 10 srjv80 cards. Let go of my subscription to get the hardware cause the expansions are so good. The vintage synth expansion is the best sounds I’ve ever heard.

Used to have a great hardware studio when I lived in the UK but had to sell when I moved to the USA - the Roland Cloud is bloody awesome. So many synths I've either owned myself or had access to that sound pretty much identical and in some ways BETTER. $19.99 a month is more than worth it if you are serious about your music. I'm 2 payments away from owning one (You get 1 a year unless they do the deal for 2 which they did around Christmas). I cannot overstate how close the D50, Juno 106, JV-1080 (Which has parts of the 5080 etc ...), 808, 909 etc .... are, and the SRX lineup is going from strength to strength with the SRX Studio just being fantastic if you enjoy New Age etc ....

I did a subscription and has been terrible. Servers are down, "try later" nonsense (24hrs already)... I do not recommend this cloud service.
Lots of issues reported.
