Honestly, this music always give me the exact same feelings as the first time I heard it, even listening in repeat all night, all day, coming back after several times, again enjoy it like I never heard it before. This is talent!

You're right. Nobody DOES want to be alone. Thing is though, some of us are forced to because no one wants us. Women think I'm too emotional, too strange, too pretentious, too socially inept, or that I'm fake because I speak in a Cumbrian dialect that I logically shouldn't have. They're driven away by the hollow and dead look in my eyes that betrays the pain and loneliness I constantly feel, the smile that I try to convince myself is genuine, and the fact that I'm schizoaffective and live on SSI/disability instead of holding a respectable job.

Yet, everyone who talks to me about it keeps repeating the same bullshit over and over again: "Oh, there's someone out there for you. You just have to be patient." Iv'e been waiting for thirteen f^^^ing years for that someone to come along. This time alone has done nothing but eaten away at my core and left me bitter of spirit.

This song gives me the shudders every time I listen to it, an excellent example of Creepy Awesome.

To me, the song seems to be from the perspective of a corrupter, a tempter, reaching out to take advantage of a lonely soul's vulnerable state. With phrases like "Cause it's better in the dark, " and "Nobody wants to be alone, even if they're only ghosts, " it makes terms such as "devil on your shoulders" and "hell of a ride, " seem not quite so figurative.
Combined with the powerful voice and epic orchestra, this whole song paints a picture of a chillingly persuasive "friend" ensnaring someone who would not have anyone else to turn to.
