TAKE A STAND // American Indian Research Rights Tour 2017

Take a Stand is short documentary film that captures the 2017 American Indian Rights Research Tour Experience; an annual tour of Minnesota that connects middle school and high school students from Anoka-Hennepin school district, Robbinsdale school district, college students from North Hennepin Community College, and graduate students from the University of Minnesota. Students got on a tour bus, the mobile classroom, and visited 5 Minnesotan American Indian Reservations over the course of 5 days. They were able to learn from the Red Lake fishery, native artists, college visits, burial mounds, and even buffalo! Take a Stand captures how through experiential learning, students and staff developed their cultural understanding through visits to traditional sites and tribal centers, participation in a mobile classroom, listening to elders and community members, and engaging in unique experiences
