"I got eyes in the back of my head just in case I have to run" insane that in 2021 people still have to feel that way

I can’t believe this song didn’t win the Best Original Song award at the Oscars. It tells such a powerful _true story_ of enslaved people on their journey to freedom. A meaningful song with so much power, intensity, and deep emotion. it’s a wonderful tribute to Harriet Tubman as well. She was a true African-American hero and this song gives her so much justice.
Cynthia did a phenomenal job performing it at the Academy Awards, and I really wish the Academy had made a better decision. Regardless, “Stand Up” will always be the winner for me! 🏆

It took me a minute to realize she is both the singer and the main actress of this film. My Lawd, how talented. She is in a league so many can not claim.

This shit has me crying. The song, her beautiful and powerful voice, the clips of the film. I just imagine the real Harriet Tubman hearing this song in her heart and mind while she fought and ran. The strength she had to lead our people to a new land and create our own freedom was so powerful for a BLACK WOMAN to do. It’s inspiring that she opened the doors for people like me and so many others to show us that we are capable of WHATEVER we put our minds to. Fight is in our blood, so is strength. Nothing can hold us back, not even when they try to.

And good Lord !!! Cynthia’s voice makes it all the more beautiful.. it’s crazy how amazing she can sing. CRAZY

I'm not even black, but everytime I hear this song I get emotional. Nothing will give justice to their past if we don't change the patterns in the present.

Stand up
Take my people with me
Together we are going
To a brand new home
Far across the river
Can you hear freedom calling?
Calling me to answer
Gonna keep on keepin' on ❤❤❤❤

This song made me tear up. Can’t imagine how hard and difficult it must have been back in the days for black people. They didn’t deserve to be treated like that.
