Benjamin Moore Ben Paint Review | Product Spotlight
Ben by Benjamin Moore is an interior paint that acts as an entry level product in Benjamin Moore's major paint line. It's available in 4 main finishes; flat, eggshell, pearl and semi-gloss. It's an acrylic latex paint that's zero-voc and relatively easy to use. Like all product spotlights on this channel, I go over the pros and cons of it, to help you make an informed decision.

It’s a great paint but another con would be that it doesn’t contain the same antimicrobial additives that inhibit the growth of mold and mildew that Aura, Regal Select, or even Ultra Spec 500 have.

Thank you!!! I was able to send this to my client to convince him to use Ben instead of another product that I'm not as happy with. Great job!

Thank you for your very thorough review. I learned a lot about this product. I've been using SW products (I'm a painting contractor) a lot in the past few months (product quality is consistent: superpaint, duration, promar ceiling etc) but do want to start trying/testing out BM products more. I have used their BEN & Regal Select recently and was very impressed!

I used the Ben Chantilly Lace Eggshell to paint the hall going into my basement steps. Cement Block and Drywall with 15ft ceilings. No drips, no splatter, NO SMELL, and seems to be a tough finish. I used to use Behr and I wouldn’t paint with it again even if they gave it to me for free.

I am going to paint the exterior of my old red barn with wooden siding. I am priming it with Spectrum Rhino-Grip 8000 primer. I was looking at Benjamin Moore BEN exterior paint for it. How do you like their exterior BEN? Aura was way too expensive for a barn! Thanks, Tom

Was just applying this for the first time on an exterior door jamb AS I was watching this video. A professional painter who’s accustomed to Benny Moore? I picked this up (Exterior Soft Gloss) at a local hardware store and was curious how it stacked up to Benjamin Moore’s TOL? It worked like a dream, shrinking down, to look like spray with cut and roll! (I’ll use it again!)

Hey, thanks for being my go to expert! Can I use Ben flat paint on a bathroom ceiling?

How flexible do you think a store would be with making a Aura color with Ben paint?

My daughter wants a Valspar color for her room so I'm choosing between Valspar Signiture or Benjamin Moore Ben match. The price is nearly identical, here. I've had some frustration with how quickly Ben dries and how sticky it is. Which do you think would be best?? Thank you!

BM is more expensive, but they have the best colors, and the best wearing paint. You get what you pay for!

I’m painting a dining room that had wallpaper on it for 20 years. The wall is not in the best condition. A painter advised me that using a flat or matte finish would help hide some of the imperfections. Do you agree? I found a beautiful Ben color in flat finish, but based on your review I’m wondering if it’s not appropriate for a dining room? Thank you!

Will Ben in eggshell be appropriate for the whole home? I’m debating whether to buy Behr brands or Ben. Which is better?

James, After watching this video I purchased the Ben product (Pearl) to paint casing and baseboards in my powder room. I'm having a hell of a time painting with a brush as dries so fast the paint pulls ... I'm talking minute... decided to try a foam roller and it left a textured finish... added some BW extender but still does not want to level... no way that it's a 2 hour drying time! Any suggestions? Could it be a bad batch? I've used a lot of Sico paint ant have never encountered this... Help! Great channel btw!

Hi! What type of primer would you recommend for the BM Ben paint? Thank you!

Would you recommend Ben or Scuff-X for trim and interior doors in a rental house?

Regal spreads way better than Ben on trim. Especially with a little BM extender...

We have used Benjamin Moore paint for thirty some years. Paint was overpriced but was very durable and easy to apply . So we payed the higher price. Then last year we bought special cabinet paint from BM. It was close to $100 for the 3.8L. We were assured that it was durable and wouldn’t chip. The paint was awful. I spend time every few weeks doing touch ups. Then today we bought a litre of paint to do some touch ups. It was Benjamin Moore and we had the can and the chip. We got it home and the paint was supposed to be an Aura cc310 which is a tan colour. It was a bright pink. They didn’t even bother to check it against the chip. We cleaned everything up and drove back to the store. They retinted the paint to the right colour. It was 100% Benjamin Moore’s fault ; but they assured us there would be no additional charge. Really!....you screwed up and we are supposed to be thankful you aren’t going to charge us more.

So, as of today we will never buy Benjamin Moore paints again. There are a lot of other brands that are just as good.

Could I get away with using Ben in a humid kid's bathroom? Trying not to spend more than I need to.
