If you need a mac now, buy something refurbished from 2015-2017 to hold you off until 2021 or 2022 and then get an arm mac.

I recently bought the macbook air i5 16gb 2020..how long will apple continue providing software/security updates? Will they ditch support to this and other 2020 intel devices in 2 years' time?

People seem to ignore the inherent asymmetry: Rosetta 2 will make Intel binaries run on ARM Macs, and not vice-versa. Therefore unless you’re in an emergency situation wait for a short while and get the ARM Mac that will be retroactively compatible for longer.

I’m just really excited about these and want the new technology. I would like to know your thoughts on the possible A14X chip and how powerful you think they will be in the MacBook Air line

I’m currently a windows user and is planning to switch to mac. Im a college student who doesn’t really need complicated softwares and usually just use my laptop for documents, note taking, and Netflix 😂. I’m torn if i should buy an intel MacBook or wait for the ARM MacBooks. Should I wait, or should I go buy an intel mac instead?

Disruptive would be putting it lightly, if Apple were to make a Mac Mini for $300-400 and start selling them at Walmarts and Targets that would kill the budget desktop market quick.
