SVT on ECG

This video shows EMT/Paramedic students how to recognize and treat a SVT when visualized on heart monitor. Always keep in mind, the patient's vital signs, signs and symptoms and most important; mental status and blood pressure when assessing stable vs unstable during ACLS.

SVT can be treated with vagal maneuvers, Adenosine for more stable patients while an unstable patient would undergo synchronized cardioversion.

You are demonstrating PSVT (paroxysmal superventricular tachycardia) on the monitor! The arrhythmia occurs in paroxysms or bursts and must never be treated with cardioversion or adenosine. PSVT if treatment is necessary, requires long acting anti-arrhythmics such as diltiazem or other appropriate long acting agent. However if a stable patient is in sustained SVT and there are no contraindications, adenosine is a good choice after a vagal maneuver. It is extremely rare for SVT to cause instability. At least in my 48 years of Paramedic service.

Can you, if you haven't yet talk about the "Yeet" method for this and when / when not to go to this in the field?
