Power GPU from CPU socket on PSU

In this short video, I show how you can use a CPU (4+4 EPS) to GPU (PCIe) splitter cable to allow you to power a GPU or riser from the extra CPU socket on the power supply. These cables have a connector for the CPU power cable on one end and dual PCIe 6+2 power cables on the other end. This is really handy when you have run out of GPU PCIe connectors on your PSU.

I like to use the CPU to GPU splitters that go on the end of the CPU power cable, as these work with all manufacturer power supplies.

This was the cable that I used:

Will that work to power a 1660 super riser ? How is your long term experience connecting cpu power to risers ?

A car shock absorber & 2 sheets of thick plywood is all you need... DIY.

Important question, could I use a PCIe cable in the CPU port if it fits there as well?

(My PCIe and CPU cables both have the same plug in shape)
