Not mentioning Java was a bit of a miss here. Not everyone is going to work at FAANG. Java is nearly in every single backend codebase.

Another option is C++, for more "advanced" game projects.

If you want to learn something that will do nearly all of the above learn C# and .NET, which are very versatile, high performing, well-supported languages and frameworks. Cross-platform and open source these days too. Can’t go wrong.

I started in late 2023 with typescript/ react and node/express. Obviously a little html and css too. But what learning these things means in 2023 is so crazy different than in 2022 or any time before, because AI will carry you until you can run. The hardest thing has been knowing when it's absolutely necessary to put my head down and learn a concept fully rather than rely on natural language and gpt-4 to write working code for me. State and Effects in react had me spinning my wheels as the complexity of my work increased and AI began to struggle to keep up with the complexity. But any question you have, gpt-4 will talk you through in a million ways until you understand it. Once you do understand things enough, you can be the guide it needs to push you forward at a pace that would be impossible without it.

I'm in 12th grade and have chosen computer science and we have only Java in our curriculum, and was wondering would it be useful

I'm completely new to the entire coding world, and I want to learn coding full stack and game development.
I am, however, considering to go with HTML, CSS, JS, react, Godot, python and firebase from google. It's an enormous undertaking, I know, just want to hear if that mix is viable, or if I should go for something else.
It's for a personal project btw, not seeking employment as a coder

Doesn't Kotlin have multiplatform support for android, desktop, mac and ios?
Also can't you compile kotlin into js?
Unreal and C++ and visualscripting or godot with gdscript and or C# would be great for game deving.

Been getting Node.js down to finally work on a project. The models, routes and controllers are making sense.

Lisp is still #1 for key algorithmic techniques such as recursion and condescension

Go or Python for small mid projects and Java or CS for big projects (aka companies also)

No word about java unfortunately. It's not popular anymore?

Unity is still around and not going anywhere, in my opinion. I would say if you want to start game development, learning C# and Unity is a good choice.
