I've tried modo bass before and its one of the best plug ins I've ever used, and the best bass plug in by a mile. I loved using the different bassee but my favourite was the viola Paul McCartney bass. This plug in is insane you could chose the type of strings and the type of amp amp and everything, its so realistic and high quality.

Thanks, will definitely check this out. Very clear and thorough review, and you touched on all the things I wanted to know as a bass player. I have a lite version of the original Modo Bass. Within 15 minutes of loading and activating it I was able to create a punchy, real-sounding bass track for a song I was building. I thought the plugin would be a perfect way to quickly create a temporary track that I would later replace with a performance. But it sounds so much better than micing my amp, and I can create phrases in MIDI that are beyond my abilities, easily change them without re-recording. By far my favorite product from IK Multimedia.

I have MODO Bass 2’s predecessor and I love it…I want to upgrade to Bass 2 here soon.

I hope that IK does a MODO Guitar at some point because if they are able to incorporate all the mechanics of MODO with the ability to custom build a guitar sound…it would be a game changer.

I totally agree. MODO Bass is the best one anywhere. I have been a user of the paid original version for quite a while and I love it. I write most of my bass lines in Sonar using the staff view, so the ability to control various parameters of the plugin via articulation maps comes in very useful to me and serves to make my bass lines more believable. I also use MODO Drum (also original paid version) and see no reason in the foreseeable future to change from either. IK Multimedia definitely has winners with both of these products, and I have no association with them other than being a product user.

Hi! Just installed this free version, tried it for a few minutes and... awsome! I used to work with the free P Bass Lite from Xln, which I loved, but it seems that the MODO sounds... woof! Once again, thanks to Mike for letting us know about this product.

I have always recorded my own bass tracks, but this plugin looks incredible. Definitely going to try the free version. The full version is also quite appetizing.
