Recent DNA analysis of Palestinians (in 2017, and in 2020) have found that 81-87% of their DNA derives from ancient Bronze Age Levantine groups and from the Neolithic Natufians. Gaza has some of the most ancient fortified structures ever excavated (for example, Tell es-Sakan) in fact older than almost all fortified structures in Egypt, far predating any history of the Jews. In contrast, analysis of Jewish Ashkenazi DNA was found to be 41% of European origin. The geneticists doing the study concluded that there was a "genetic continuity in the region" of Palestine, among Palestinian people, since the time of the ancient neolithic Natufians
