Don't get me wrong, Geforce Now is pretty awesome for what it is, and so is Boosteroid! I'm a bit lukewarm on Xcloud, though.

Still, if you have a semi-potato PC with a dedicated graphics card, I think you can do wonders by making your own gaming cloud server. Let's get things straight, almost nobody needs a freaking RTX 4080 in 2024!

Five minutes video about why quitting cloud gaming without explaining why quitting cloud gaming. Interesting.

If you have a strong enough PC to play any game you are not the target audience for the service.

you're right. if you have a monster of a gaming PC, you don't need geforce now

All streaming services are godsends for lower class folk. Both my partner as well as I are artists from detroit and we would NEVER be able to afford a gaming pc let alone games. We have been pkaying game pass or geforce from our phones for years. Its amazing honestly. I played halo MCC on top of an abandoned building during the 4th of july because of geforce.

I don`t pay for gfn, I play on a free account at evenings or mornings, I never wait longer than couple of minutes. And when it comes to security, I don`t really care, they can try to steal my steam or epic, wouldn`t be first time.

And the PC where you physically have your games running grows on a tree I guess. I don't understand when you first said that with NVIDIA GFN you don't have to pay for a gaming PC, and then you destroyed this idea by stating that you can connect from a cheap chrome book to your home PC and play any games. Hmm, did I miss something?

I don't see how this is better than just using GeForce now or xcloud. Your main positive for geforce now etc was not having to worry about a robust personal pc/laptop... And then you offered a "better" solution that requires a beefy powerful main pc/laptop.

The video is really unclear. On the one side you say you are not using GeForce Now anymore and neither should we, but you fail to explain why, basically no arguments against it are provided.
On the other hand, you are praising the use of another freesource app, that let's you stream stuff from your "main high-end PC"...
My friend, many of us do not even own a PC, maybe a crappy laptop or tablet. We don't dabble into high-end streaming, many of us just want to be able to play our favorite games from anywhere, with minimum latency, without going broke and GeForce Now is what assures we can.
PS. In order for this video to be a rant of any sort, it would firstly need to contain arguments.

The title should be "Why I quit using Geforce Now in 2024 for playing games on laptop whenever I don't have access to my ultra powerful gaming PC." ;)

I did the math and for the experience they offer, the more expensive the cheaper it comes. Plus if you don't game all months of the year, ex 6 months, its cheaper to just rent it and avoid the depreciation + upgrading your pc to be on par with the current year. So far for occasional gamers with AAA games its cheaper to rent, if that was your argument.

Thanks for the video, but the boosteroid stands out the most. Really like their service and the fact that I can play from my TV with no lags, plus when traveling from my car

Wow, never knew about Sunshine/Moonlight. I just tested it by streaming my gaming PC on a 8 years old laptop and it was sooo good. Couldn't tell the difference. 0 input lag. I only tested it via the local network, is there any significant different when doing it over the internet? Bun video. :)

Sunshine is the best thing since the invention of the Bratwurst. Been doing this for over 3 years now, and by now it even works well with AMD GPUs. So I sit on my Macbook Air clamshelled on a decent screen and run whatever stuff I want from my PC tucked away in the basement. No noise, no noticeable latency, no artifacting, all the mods I want, all the free Epic Game Store games I piled up. And all of it from a retired hackintosh that got a retired 3060 mining GPU. And it even works with Smart TVs, so it doubles as a living room console as well.

geforce now would be amazing if it just works with every game

Its better than buying thousands of dolars gaming rigs. The only downsides are those damn exlusivity deals some publishers make. But as more and more people move to this platforms because they will not buy a 3000$ video card, publishers will need to think more about selling games rather than supporting platform X. I heard its quite easy to put a game on geforce now if it works on steam. Unless you have exclusivity deals.

I got a 4090 in my PC at home with linux/windows dual boot. I discovered Gforce now a week ago and I it gives me 2 extra options. I can play any game on my Macbook for work away from home in 4k as if im on my own PC practically. On linux I can play games that do not work like COD warzone withouth any issues. Even if you have a great PC at home, it could still be benificial to play games on old hardware such as an old laptop/PC.

I also used moonlight/sunshine for over a year and it does NOT come close to gforce streaming picture quality/latency at all. Sure on LAN you have good quality and low latency, but externaly its different story. Away from home you have to stream over VPN which increases latency and reduces picture quality. Playing at 4k externaly is unstable at times even with high bandwith 1-8gig fiber connections. I still use moonlight from time to time to play games gforce now does not support (Guild Wars 1 for example).

imho, gfn is a good service ‘cause pc will get older and you’ll need to upgrade it every 3-4years(if you want everything run smoothly, play the newest games on ultra and etc.), but with geforce you are always getting top performance. In this kind of situation it’s cheaper than web home machine

I'm a founder in GeForce Now lad. I freaking love it. AAA anywhere but also 4k on my Shield Pro 2019 iteration. I honestly never used Moonlight.

Besides the comments already made, if I have a good pc/laptop I don't need Geforce now, also you need a good internet connection at home (upload) and a good internet connection whereever you are using your cheap chromebook (often crappy at tourist destinations). So in theory it may be perfect, but I don't think it works as well in real life... and if you have no internet, you have no access to your home pc...
