Naik Gursewak Singh, a dedicated soldier, embarked on his journey in the armed forces back in 2004. Over the years, he showcased his exceptional skills and expertise in some of the most challenging and sensitive areas in Jammu and Kashmir, including Poonch, Rajouri, and both South and North Kashmir. As a demolition specialist and the top student in the leadership course, he stood out amongst his peers. Not only was he proficient in Unarmed Combat and Close Quarter Battle, but he was also highly regarded for his expertise.

In a significant role, he had been associated with CDS Gen Bipin Rawat for three years, showcasing his commitment to his duties. Born as the sixth child among eight siblings, Gursewak Singh had a large family - five brothers and two sisters. His father, at the age of 70, held the family together.

Gurubaksh, his sibling, shared that during his last visit to the village in November, none knew it would be their final meeting with Gursewak. The family had anticipated his return in January or February 2022. Tragically, fate had different plans. Gursewak Singh leaves behind his loving wife, Jaspreet Kaur, and three children, including two daughters aged nine and seven, and a son aged three, who will grow up with the memory of their courageous father.

In the face of their loss, the family, devoid of any farmland and with a younger brother engaged in a small business, will strive to honor Naik Gursewak Singh's memory and keep his legacy alive. His dedication and sacrifice will forever echo in the hearts of those he leaves behind.
