In honor of the brave Naik Rajendra Singh Bhati, born on December 24, 1992, in Mohangarh, Jaisalmer district of Rajasthan. He was the proud son of late Hav Sawal Singh Bhati, an army veteran, and Smt Nain Kanwar Rathore. Naik Rajendra Singh came from a military background, fueled by a childhood dream of wearing the esteemed army uniform. At the age of 21, on January 1, 2013, he followed his calling and joined the army, being recruited into the 15 Rajput Battalion of the Rajput Regiment, renowned for its valor and numerous battle honors.

After a few years of dedicated service, he found love and companionship in Ms. Jamna Kanwar, and the two embarked on a journey of togetherness. Following his training, Naik Rajendra Singh served with his parent unit before being deputed to 23 RR Bn, stationed in the challenging terrains of the Kashmir valley.

Ramban Operation: September 28, 2019

In September 2019, Naik Rajendra Singh's unit, 23 RR, was deployed in the Ramban district of Jammu and Kashmir for counter-insurgency operations. The region was a hotbed of militant activity, demanding the troops to remain vigilant constantly. The unit engaged in regular operations against the militants, and during this period, they received intelligence about terrorists in the Batote area.

Naik Rajendra Singh was part of the Quick Reaction Team (QRT) tasked with the operation. The team swiftly reached the suspected area and made contact with the terrorists, leading to a gun battle. Despite the militants managing to escape to Kundrala, nine kilometers away, they were later cornered in a house where they took the owner as a hostage.

In a joint operation involving J&K police, Army, CISF, and CRPF, the security forces made several attempts to make the terrorists surrender. However, the militants resorted to desperate measures, firing indiscriminately in an attempt to break the cordon and escape. Naik Rajendra Singh and his team engaged the militants bravely, successfully eliminating them. Tragically, during the exchange of fire, Naik Rajendra Singh sustained severe injuries and later succumbed to them.

At the age of 27, Naik Rajendra Singh Bhati, a valiant and committed soldier, made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty. Recognizing his exceptional courage, devotion to duty, and supreme sacrifice, he was posthumously awarded the gallantry medal "Sena Medal."

He leaves behind a grieving mother, Smt Nain Kanwar Rathore, a wife, Smt Jamna Kanwar, a daughter, and two brothers, Shri Samunder Singh and Shri Govind Singh. His memory will forever live on as a symbol of bravery and dedication.
