I'm no Garen main, but back then, I would occasionally put more points into Q first instead of E in lane depending on the matchup. The instant burst damage from his empowered Q would end up catching a lot of my opponents off guard and the longer lasting movement speed had some pretty good sticking/disengage potential.

I was playing Urgot into Garen and lvl 1-2 I hard bullied him to like 100 hp left and I was at 400. So when my wave crashed, I went for a dive and missed the killing blow. I died to tower and I went from dominating lane to losing it in the span of 5 seconds.

Its more complex than that but generally good advice, that is to be hyper agressive to learn your champion.

garens got rlly good base stats and can be played more aggressive in early game with the W buffs and his E buffs, i'd reccomend u dont concede farm and just take a positive trade bcz u will almost always win it

Most MU doesn't allow you to do this lvl 1, but yeah this knowledge comes with the experience, you can also do the same to Renekton if he isn't careful and tries to all in lvl 1 with auto attacks and doesn't wait to get fury to empower his Q
