Theophrastus successor was Strato (of Lampsacus), not Strabo. Strabo was a completely different individual who lived two centuries later, around the time Rome switched from Republic to Empire. Strabo did write about the Library in his work "Geographica", but again he lived two centuries later and was not around when the Library complex was constructed. He died ~24 AD.

Few things I would add. When talking about the city, I would mention the fun fact of all the cities named after Alexander. Always a funny thing to think about. The second thing I would add would be that you put a lot of focus on it being the only thing like it. This overlooks the libraries of Baghdad and the scholarly city of Timbuktu. Both equally deserving of their own videos

This is excellent information! And while I hope you did this as a joke, 4:20, the P in Ptolomy is silent, just like in swimming.😊

To find the library (not the building but the books) find Alexandre's body!

I imagine this library to be more like a collection compared to modern standards.

Religious and ideological fanaticism/zealotry has been and will always be the greatest enemies of knowledge and those who wish to pursue it.

The Libary of Alexandria had a damp machine to open the doors. yes it sounds like bs, but it was there, it was not very effective, and it was used as symbolic technology, and there was not atempt of making it into practical technology (Symbolic technology is things used for symbols like churches, monumental buildings etc that have mostly a symbolic use in different ways. practical techonlogy on the other hand is things like the plov, a loom, a sickle, all things that is not within weapons or symbolic technology that humans makes. its only the last few 100 years where there been a big investment in practical technology before that it was mainly military and symbolic technology)

Voice is way too harsh and grating. Not happening. Nothing personal. Just my preference.
