King Robert talks to Cersei about the state of the Realm.

I like how Robert was so serious at the beginning " Your father wants to own the world and Ned wants to run away and burry his head under the snow " then when Cersei asked what he wants he shows the cup of wine lol

Robert may have been a bad administrator and terrible father but he had two virtues as King that Cercei will never grasp. Firstly he a brilliant general and warrior, never something to be underestimated in a medieval king. Second he knows how to take enemies and turn them into friends. Remember at this point he's kept the 7 kingdoms at peace for 9 years, not bad when the Starks and the Lannisters hate each other, the Ironborn are just waiting for a chance to rebel and Dorne hates his rule with a vengeance.

I always loved how Robert actually took time to talk to Cersei and educate her on war tactics. Especially 1v5 armies.
He would have been a treasure of war knowledge to listen to IRL.

If you actually read about the extended lore of Game of Thrones this scene showcases an incredible amount of self awareness on Roberts part. He knows full well that one of the key reasons he was able to rise to power was because in the time leading up to the rebellion the other lords of the 7 kingdoms were half assing their efforts to support the king. The Tyrells initiated a halfhearted siege of Storms End the Martells did just enough to keep Elia alive and the Lannisters waited to see who would win. Had the realm been more unified in that time the rebellion would easily have been squashed and he's smart enough to know that the same thing could easily happen to him. He may have been a drunken lout but Robert was far from the idiot the memes suggest

Hey, Cersei, listen! He tells you not to do two things, don't fight the Dothraki and don't hide and do nothing while all hell breaks loose in the realm. She does both.

So Robert Baratheon just basically predicted exactly what'll happen to Cersei.

I like to think this conversation happened in the books, only we didn't get to see (read) it, because neither Cersei nor Robert were POV characters at the time.

This was a great speech, and I feel like Robb Stark in season 1-2 exemplified this. Stark was outnumbered and didn’t have the vast resources at his disposal, but his army were United under a single purpose under a king they loved. Seasons 1-2, Robb, the plucky underdog, was winning the war.

Mark Addy is such an underrated actor. His turn as Robert Baratheon i think truly set the tone for the whole of GOT
