I've traveled to every city in Georgia, USA. That being said, in this video, I narrowed it down to the top 7 best mountain towns in GA. I summarize why there all good in there own way!

The Georgia Mountains Region or North Georgia mountains or Northeast Georgia is an area that starts in the northeast corner of Georgia, United States, and spreads in a westerly direction. The mountains in this region are in the Blue Ridge mountain chain that ends in Georgia. At over 1 billion years of age, the Blue Ridge mountains are among the oldest mountains in the United States and sometimes mistaken to be the oldest mountains in the world (they are only about one third of the age of South Africa's 3.6 billion year old Barberton greenstone belt.). The mountains in this region are also a part of the vast system of North American mountains known as the Appalachian Mountains that spans most of the United States longitudally along the eastern areas of the nation and terminates in Alabama.

The region is known for its ruggedness and scenic beauty. The Cherokee who lived in these mountains called them ᏌᏆᎾᎦ/Sah-ka-na'-ga - "Blue Smoke Mountains". Large portions of the North Georgia mountains are included in the more than 750,000 acres (3,000 km2) that comprise the Chattahoochee National Forest.

I stayed in Hiawassee for the first time 3 years ago, and since then other family members have taken multiple trips there too. Lake Chatuge is now my grandma's favorite place to fish.

Ellijay is by far my absolute FAVORITE and holds a very special place in my heart. 🍎 Hiawassee and Lake Chatuge is a very close 2nd! Can’t recommend visiting Ellijay and Hiawassee enough. Both are such exquisite gems in North Georgia! 😊🌄💎💕

About 30 miles from Dahlonega is the town of Ball Camp which is home to a spectacular botanical park called Gibbs Gardens.

I remember as a young adult going to Helen Ga. To camp on top of Tray Mountain, always stopped by Betty's store in Helen to get hoop cheese❤❤❤😂😂

Most of the lakes are drained by the Army Corp of Engineers. If you are choosing a town based on the lake, you need to visit it when the lake is down and see if you like it. Lake Rabun isn’t drained but it’s also expensive as all get it. Hard to get into.

I haven't been to the GA mountain towns. How do they compare to the NC ones? We live in SC and head to NC when we go to the mountains currently. We love Blowing Rock, NC but also go to Hendersonville and Highlands.

Buy used; do *not* build. Wildlife habitat is disappearing and areas are inundated with pollution. *Ellijay GA is definitely overdeveloped.*

Nothing there in Hiawassee, been there 3 times, the lake is Beautiful, that is about it, terrible restaurants .
