Hi, I am a secondary student from Hong Kong. The Past Present Tense was taught today but I couldn't understand very well. Thank you so much for helping to chase away the black clouds onto of my head. You're really a good teacher. The pace, the vocabulary…… everything is just easy to understand. Thank you so much.

First of all, thank you for your videos and your help :)

My exercise:
- I had decided to leave when the boss called me for a meeting;
- We bought plane tickets but the prices had already increased;
- She looked around for help when a salesperson had just appeared;

Extra:

I left my swimsuit at home when I had gone in vacations to Mexico. I had just realised that when I was already in the plane. I had been really sad about it when my wife told me she had packed it and it was inside her backpack.

(Green) 1. I had just decided to leave when the boss called me for a meeting.
(Orange) 2. The prices had already increased when we bought plane tickets.
(Blue) 3. She had looked around for help when a salesperson just appeared.

Misadventure Story:
The alarm clock had just went off as I was about to finally get some sleep. I grumpily crawled unwillingly out of my warm, snug quilt and got ready for school. Just as the bus came, I remembered that I had already ran out of money in my octopus card the day before. I had to walk to school, but there wasn't enough time! So I sprinted with all my might and I had just arrived when the bell rang. Then I had only just stepped into the classroom when I realised I had left my pencil case at home. How unlucky!
P.S. I hope that this hasn't actually happened to someone before.
~Thanks Emma for helping me revise for my exam by making this lovely and helpful video.

I finally understand the difference between past perfect and present perfect. Thanks. I'd love to see something on basics of participles and also the use of indirect and direct object pronouns in a sentence.

When I read those (had)(has)(have) I can understand but when I need them in a conversation I totally forget how and when to use

Thank you for making it easy to understand Emma. I always watch your english lessons and it helped me to become an english teacher for kids as a part time job. I can get ideas from you on how you explain things and those examples are excellent. Thank you. ☺💕

Here are my answers:

1) I had decided to leave when the boss called me for a meeting.
2) We bought plane tickets, but the prices had already increased (I think it would make more sense to say "we were going to buy plane tickets, but the prices had already increased" because why would it matter that the prices increased, if you were stilling going to buy the tickets.)
3) She had just looked around for help, when the salesperson appeared.

Thanks Emma for your great videos, there the most informative, clear ones on grammar I've found yet to this day.

1: I had just decided to leave when the boss called me for a meeting.
2: The prices had already increased when we bought the plane tickets.
3: She had just looked around for help when a salesperson appeared.
I would like to know if I can use the past perfect continuous with the last one.( She had been looking around for help when a salesperson appeared.) Does the meaning change? Can I use just with it?
I hope you can answer Emma.
Ps: I love your videos.💕
