Zolpidem is not a benzodiazepine, it is a nonbenzodiazepine (z-drug). They share many of the same properties but have significant differences in molecular structure. More precisely zolpidem is a imidazopyridine.

Yes #3 would happen if your perfect dose was arbitrarily cut and you're not getting the sleep you should be getting. You're underdosed.
