To all the people who think they got it all after first read and s/he is just a 10th grader or something....yes you got it in your level of understanding...the meaning it holds now will change as your comprehensive power increases and you have more background knowledge...everyone will get it in their own terms and it differs from person to person...yes same words i mean the exact same words holds different meaning for different people as time goes on....lots of factors to consider here....goodthing you're reading books as such.

I have always got a crappy mark in science and math related courses and I stopped taking science 2 years ago so I forgot everything. I was able to comprehend the book. I think it is because Hawking presents the information in a more interesting and in manner where the reader is in awe. It is eye opening how complex and intracate the universe is yet ONE MIND can explain in it in simple terms. Great read! So is A breifer hostory of time. A brief history of time is for someone with basic understanding of physics, cosmology, chemistry and a little of math. I read it back to back just for shits lol.

I love your review... I read this book many, many years ago... I was just talking talking to a friend of mine about how everything in the universe, including ourselves, all relate, but the subject is so broad and complex, a person like myself has no hope of ever being able to explain these things to an average human being... I suggested to him this book because of the ease of reading... Stephen Hawking simplifies so many aspects in this book that even a layman can read and get a very basic understanding from... Thank you for this awesome review!

Thank you very much for commenting on this book. Also for mentioning the "GOD" issue. Very interesting! I would have never anticipated this theme in a scientific book like this. It is recommended for 12th grade by the "Homeschool Summer Challenge" to prepare for College. Best wishes to all.

I don’t know. In my opinion that book is one of those books which some people should read with caution. I mean two things by that. One is that exactly because it is “dumbed down” it may give the reader a feeling of knowing something but in reality not explaining enough. Another things is that there is no clear reason elaborated by Hawking what exactly is the consequence of him or any other reader learning about something as distant, untouchable, and to an extent incomprehensible due to scale. I mean it would help if some philosopher at least write an intro explaining why they believe this knowledge matters in the daily life of an average person.

I'm really interested in reading this book but I'm afraid that the information is too outdated and would only confuse me going into the second year of my physics university. Any thoughts on that?

I really loved it, it was super easy to understand, and that's coming from a very stupid grade 10 student who is got a 70 in math last year.
