What is Communication?
Common Communication Theories have been developed a long time ago and refer to the interaction of human beeings.

However, in the world we live in today we mostly interact with computers and start to increasingly face former futuristic things like artificial intelligence and such.

So is communication really only limited on human communication? Or should it include the interaction of humans and computers as well?

And how about the interaction of humans and companies?

I think interacting with technology such as computers is also a communication. Since communication is an exchange of information in where there is a sender and a receiver. We received answers from computers, also so therefore it is considered a communication.

Communication is the coding, transmission and decoding of information. But information about what? Technical information is based on the concepts of mathematics applied to the core concepts underlying physics, namely mass, length, time and a couple of other things. These are only a small fraction of the concepts which underly day to day human communication. The experience, rather than the idea, of colour, sensation and emotion can never be described by physics or mathematics. Communication between machines, or artificial constructs, can therefore only be about machines. Communication between humans is about human thought and experience, of which physics, mathematics and machines are only a small part. True artificial general intelligence will require that machines can understand the best part of the range of human thought. When machines can understand all of human thought, humans will understand all that can ever be known about physics and machines. The quest for AI will therefore converge with the quest for ever deeper understanding of the physical universe, including the human brain, and animal consciousness in general.
