How to Mod Legacy Subnautica in 2022 - Updated for Steam & Epic

With changes to the policy at NexusMods, many mod creators went elsewhere. As a result, QModManager no longer has an executable installer on NexusMods, and I get a lot of comments about that. So here it is, updated for 2022, how to install QModManager the manual and EASY way.

If you have installed the new Subnautica 2.0 update, then you will need to check the Subnautica Modding Discord for an updated version of QMods. The devs stated plainly in the update notes that if you are using mods, you should switch to the Legacy build in Steam so that you do not lock your save files to the new version.

You will have to play legacy version until QMods and any other mods you choose to use are updated to the new Subnautica 2.0 build.

hey guys, if y'all don't have a Qmods folder the plugins folder is a replacement to the qmods folder you can add your mods to there and it worked for me

its not working i put it in the plugins folder but when i start up the game no mods showed up.

If your just seeing this comment and you wonder why your mods arent working and you followed the tut 100% its because of the new subnautica update you just need to wait for all your mods you want to update to the current games version

On MacOS there is no file named "Qmods" there is only the other 3.

guys i installed all and i have all folders but when i start game it says me like "Some mods dont work", when i check logo there is ERROR and saying some mods dont installed, but when i open folder there are all mods installed. How i can fix it?

What mod set do you use? I saw in the beginning you used a portal and an elevator to a massive platform base you also had a control room with a bunch of displays for your recourses. I also saw some automation. That seems like a really nice mod set. Thanks

Im having a problem with vortex where it's saying that there are conflicts because all the mod files contain a "mod.json" and they can't work all at the same time or something? Do I just ignore this?

I haven't downloaded mods for anything for a while (been stuck on No Man's Sky LOL). Now I'm going to have to go see what Nexus has changed.
