1950-1970 were the golden years of the U.S middle class, economically. it quite literally was the best time for middle class working americans. We haven't and most likely never will see that level of economic prosperity for average american working class people again.

The ‘50s were great…for those raised in the ‘50s who felt nostalgia over that time. Anecdotally, it was the best time ever for some people. Of course people living their lives would look back with fondness.

>no AC
>happy kids
>no computers
Wow, extremely compelling.

When discussing the 1950s and happiness, race, gender, and sexuality were a major factor. If you were white, it was a great time to be alive. Any other race, not so much.

Not sure what your point is, you basically sold me on the 50s though.

People loved the 50's because the previous 3 decades were quite possibly the most traumatic and misery laden years in human history. When you are used to the spanish flu and the holocaust you would look at being in a Saw movie like its Disneyland.

I talk to 1950s people. They do say that you really could walk the streets. And my parents said life was casual, well mannered and people just went home from work and relaxed. They read, watched TV, had dinners together and generally just lived simple lives. No dopamine hits every 15 minutes

Sounds like denial to me. My grandparents were in their 30s in the 1950s and still said it was the best era.

The reason people find it so hard to be happy is that they always see the past better than it was, the present worse than it is, and the future less resolved than it will be

I’m 19, and would happily start over again at that time, even without my same thought and memories (the same family though) to get to live then.

My folks said the 50's were incredible. They always felt safe no matter where they went. They grew up in Detroit. Detroit today. I don't need to say anymore.

What you forget is air conditioning isn't necessary. Not at the level it's used today. Once I acclimate to summer I need to take a parka into a Safeway store. Ever sat under some trees with a little breeze during summer? We use air conditioning because we jammed ourselves into houses packed so tight with no trees and grass, just acres of pavement.

You literally just sold us all on how the 1950s was better

The 50s was only ⚪️ people. That’s why it flourished, I’d advise you go check out Poland if you want that kind of beauty again, not as free as America in the 50s but is definitely just as safe😇

AC and computers vs country-wide morals, values and accountability. A core family unit. Yeah, you make great points.

So, I remember that in the early 60s we lived about 1.5 miles away from Disneyland in Anaheim. My grandmother left her keys in the car with the window rolled down all the time. She didn't lock her front door. She knew and was friendly with all her neighbors. They had block parties. All dads were trusted. She didn't have to doubt her government, her police, or her church. Yes, it was very very very good times!

Horrible green screen and narration. Better to be off camera dude, and slow down.
