People just like to ignore that Metroid takes direct inspiration from Alien. Of course it could work as a movie.

It was inspired by Alien for crying out loud. The games have great environmental and industrial settings, an ultra badass protagonist with either Mother Brain or Ripley and severalalien monsters to fight, and an epic musical score. It would absolutely work as a movie, so long as it's animated, or even a series. I hope Nintendo considers it someday.

I think of something like Primal. A semi-episodic show with close to no dialogue, a slow and atmospheric vibe and some cool, brutal action scenes to punctuate each episode.

It could totally be done, it's just a matter of coming at it from the right angle.

Here’s how I see a Metroid movie working out: just adapt Samus’ origin story. You have a decent film-worthy story, plenty of dialogue and action opportunities, and the chance to present the series to a larger audience.

Metroid should be a series of animated shorts with little to no dialogue, a la the opening training montage in Samurai Jack.

I like the idea of it having little to no dialogue, but I could also see them going the route of adapting the prequel manga.

My brother doesn't even care for story in video games, but he recognizes the potential for a Metroid movie. He's something of a movie buff.

Metroid could absolutely work as a movie. Actually if any Nintendo series could work as a movie, it would be this one. Just combine the official prequel manga and Zero Mission as one whole story and make a movie out of it. That way you have dialogue, character development, backstory, and action. Also if they want to make a sequel from there they could adapt the Prime games

The Mandolorian season 3 episode 2 felt very Metroid-esque, even down to the spider droid that attacks them looking exactly like an EMMI

Ridley would be such a good movie villain if they gave him actual lines like in that one manga.

Give it to Genndy Tartakovsky and tell him to make it dialogue-free, like Primal.

It'd be awesome.

An easy way around "No dialogue" would just be to base it more on one of the Prime games. You can only imagine the "Oneliner-off" that would happen in, say, a film based on Prime Hunters.

I honestly think Metroid would work better has a animated series. Little to no dialogue? Just give to Genndy Tartakosvky.

Derrick Bitner from GoodVibesGaming has a fantastic video about a potential Metroid movie.

Btw this is for the viewers, I know Arlo's already seen it.

Samurai Jack is a good example of little-to-no dialogue done right. If the writers look to that show and Genndy’s other work like Primal, I think it would help a lot in figuring out a film or short series

Maybe not as a one shot movie, but as a series it would be amazing

The lore is absolutely incredible and I'd love it if they made a movie on Samus's origin story. Long story short, Samus's parents were murdered by Ridley on K-2L and was raised by the Chozo on Zebes. And then eventually the original game comes into play.

A little-to-no-dialogue Metroid movie would just play out like a very long episode of Aeon Flux and I'm totally here for it.

So much of Metroid’s aesthetic involves isolation that I don’t know how they would manage to adapt that into a film without boring audiences. A series, however, with 15 to 20 minute episodes like Aeon Flux or Primal would likely work really well.

A movie that has almost no dialogue would be pretty cool but I think another option that Nintendo could do is to make a movie that doesn't have Samus in it and focuses on other characters within the universe so you get to finally figure out who Samus is working for.

Like we know Samus works for the federation but who is the federation. Something kind of like that one metric game people don't speak about on the Wii except maybe Samus isn't there.

Obviously I will point out the offer in the room not having Sam's in the Metroid movie would be really weird and probably hurt sales but it could be cool.
