Iirc when Jeff had the winning team stripped of immunity in 41, Danny, Sydney & Deshawn all told Jeff that they were planning on quitting but were all talked out of it according to Ricard & Deshawn in post-season interviews at the time. Didnt help Sydney getting eliminated that round...

And when immunity was stripped from the winners again in 42, Lydia in her exit interview (again in post-seasin press) said she wanted to quit as well and was talked down from doing it. If only Lydia didnt go home this round, much like Sydney last season. Maybe adding Applebee's made fewer people want to quit...

Thats 4 Players who wanted to quit thanks to the Hourglass Twist in 41/42. FOUR. It was just as hated by the players as it was the viewers. And there couldve been more people who wanted to quit as well. I dont remember much, but i do remember this being fairly big at the time of 42 airing.

Even though it’s the “right choice” to break the hour glass, Jeff still coerced her into breaking it. “If you wanna do nothing then just leave everything as it is. But if you want to change history by making history… smash the hour glass” and then hands her the tool.

Tbh that’s sly coercion. Which reinforces that budget era survivor tries to force gameplay and rely on shock factor rather than player wit and savvy gameplay.
